This work depicts a cavalryman from the 12e régiment of Napoleon's chasseurs à cheval during the late Napoleonic wars wearing the "kinski" style uniform. With this work I wanted to experiment with different traditional looking brushes, to make the work look more like a traditional painting. To achieve this effect I studied multiple traditional works, mainly impressionistic works for the background and for the figure, I looked at 17th-18th century oil paintings. I still wanted to retain my own crisp detail focused style while also incorporating traditional looking brushwork and I think I've got a nice blend of the two.
